If I was in Thailand...

I would definitely be popping in to have a gander at these funky fiends.

They are made under the guidance of the 'ever ceramically active' Melbourne based artist Vipoo Srivilasa.

The press release states...

"The Thai Celadon, Chiang Mai, will be exhibiting a very unique and exciting series of work, created by the employees of the factory at Pongnoi Art Space from 5-26 April 2009.

These one off handmade ceramic pieces have been crafted under the guidance and assistance of the factory's first artist-in-residence, Thai-born Australian artist, Vipoo Srivilasa. Vipoo's stated theme for the work, “Monsters by Hands” challenge the perception of the typical factory products by blurring the concepts of handmade and mass production."

Cool.

It was so much fun here. The residency is almost finish. I will be back to Australia on 6 April and ready to get back to my own studio again. 3 months in Thailand, apart from ideas and inspiration, i also gain 10 more kilo!
