I had the honour of being included in the selection committee for Fresh! this year. Held annually at Craft Vic Fresh! "surveys the creative diversity and exceptional technical skill of graduating craft and design students across Victoria." Selection for this exhibition was a fascinating and challenging process that aimed to recognise that ever so elusive quality - innovation.
Visiting the resulting show last week was a thoroughly enjoyable experience: diversity, an exceptional array of skills, lovely moments of humour and space to enjoy large works without their intrusion on more intimate pieces. It was a credit to the curator, Nella Themelios, and the staff at Craft Vic who put this show together. It would have been no small feat considering the time frame and logistics.
